Paseo a dos (emotive EMO151, 2015)

Two masters of European music got together to transform flamenco music into new acoustic music recreations by adding jazz and Spanish classical music elements. Dorantes has become one of the most famous Spanish pianists. He is an outstanding composer and performer who is comfortable playing flamenco and jazz as well. French bassist and composer Renaud Garcia-Fons is a renowned instrumentalist who has recorded various jazz and world music projects.

Paseo a dos was recorded live in Sevilla, which is Dorantes’ home. The two musicians deliver masterful performances, featuring exquisite melodic and percussive interplay. There are no guests so it’s just piano and acoustic bass, an opportunity to experience the two artists extract the best out of their musical instruments.

The flamenco palos (genres) featured include bulerías, malagueña, guajiras, soleà, garrotin y livianas, siguirilla, tangos and rondeña.
