World Music Institute announces the 2015-16 season

New York City-based arts presenter World Music Institute (WMI) has announced the programming for the 2015-2016 season. WMI will celebrate its 30th Anniversary season with high profile acts such as Chucho Valdes (Cuba), Ladysmith Black Mambazo (South Africa), Buena Vista Social Club (Cuba) , Amjad Ali Khan (India), and Arturo Sandoval (Cuba).

Other highlights include Indian violin maestro L. Subramaniam, Afro-beat legend Orlando Julius, Malian icon Kasse Mady Diabate, Tuareg guitarist Bombino (Niger), Ana Carolina (Brazil), Awesome Tapes from Africa.

We are also excited to be bringing back our Flamenco Festival (something for which our organization has always been known), continuing Dancing The Gods (our spectacular festival of Indian classical dance), and the Africa Now festival in partnership with the legendary Apollo Theatre,” says new Artistic Director, Par Neiburger.

The closing concert of the 2015-16 season will Brazilian group Uakti with special guest Philip Glass. Uakti invents all of its own unique instruments.
