WOMEX Now Open to 2015 Showcase Proposals

womex-250World music expo WOMEX announced on February 11 that it is officially open to artist submissions for the 2015 showcases. WOMEX 2015 will take place in Budapest, Hungary during October 21-25, 2015. The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 10, 2015.

WOMEX welcomes proposals from artists and DJs of all backgrounds and styles. The WOMEX Showcase Festival is specifically designed to help musical acts launch the next phase of their career, with selected artists performing in front of an audience of key music professionals, including concert and festival bookers, record labels, tour promoters and venue directors.

As with each year, we are looking to the global music community to help shape this year’s program,” said WOMEX Director, Alexander Walter. “We invite all those active in the music world – from seasoned players with a host of knowledge to share and filmmakers with a flair for telling musical stories to boundary-crossing artists and DJs – to send in proposals that represent where the industry is today and where it is headed in the future. We are looking forward to the proposals that will come in over the following months.”

Based on the delegate feedback, WOMEX has developed a new system of submitting proposals for WOMEX 2015, using a tailor-made proposal system created in collaboration with the independent company Brumedje, located on the Cape Verdean islands: www.brumedje.com.

The showcase festival and conference selection is made each year by a group of seven Jury members, known as the 7 Samurai, selected especially from within the international music community.

Last year, more than 60 acts with 320 artists performed on over seven stages as part of the Showcase Festival.
