‘The Flame: Flamenco Infused Jazz’ opens its concert season of 2015 in New York

Rebeca Vallejo, Andreas Arnold, and InFlame are the three artists that will open ‘The Flame: Flamenco Infused Jazz’ series in 2015. The concerts are produced by World Music Boutique Productions in collaboration with The Cornelia St Café and Spain Culture NY (Consulate General of Spain in New York). ‘The Flame’ is the only series of concerts in the United States showcasing the work of musicians whose artistic vision, although strongly based in jazz sounds and approaches, latches onto the roots of Flamenco.

The season begins on January 31st with a performance by the series’ host, curator and producer Rebeca Vallejo accompanied by David Silliman on drums and percussion & George Dulin on piano. The trio will perform a unique mixture of jazz, flamenco and Brazilian music. Rebeca’s discography includes Azúcar, Canela, Rebeca Vallejo Project, and Eurolatinjazz.

On Saturday, February 21st, ‘The Flame’ presents the work of its first international artist: German guitarist, composer and producer Andreas Arnold. Andreas skillfully weaves the essence of flamenco guitar and flamenco rhythms with jazz harmonic and compositional tools. Andreas Arnold will be accompanied by Tania Mesa on violin and vocals, Petros Klampanis on double bass & Jose Moreno on percussion and vocals.

The season continues on Saturday, March 21st paying tribute to the ancestral origins of Flamenco with the quartet InFlame. Led by of north Indian mandolin player Snehasish Mozumder this eclectic musical combo brings together the language of Flamenco together with its most immediate influence in origin: classical Indian music. The other members of this collaborative ensemble are flamenco guitar player Cristian Puig, tabla player Ranendra Das & flamenco percussion player Peter Basil. The group has an album titled InFlame.

All concerts will take place from 18:00 – 19:30 (6:00-7:30PM) at the downstairs of Cornelia St Cafe (29 Cornelia St, Greenwich Village, New York. 212 989 9319)
