On Tuesday July 15, Spain’s Paradores hotel chain will inaugurate the series “Noches Flamencas (Flamenco Nights).” It’s a musical and gastronomic event in which some of the most emblematic Paradores will become for a few days an improvised flamenco stage where some the best singers and dancers in the world will provide special concerts and performances.

To launch this series of unique concerts, Paradores has chosen one of Spain’s most internationally recognized artists, Jose Merce. The renowned singer will provide a private concert in the courtyard of the cloister of the 17th century Parador de Alcala de Henares. Merce, an iconic artist from Jerez de la Frontera will review some of the most representative songs of his career in front of a small audience of 150 people who will have the opportunity to live a unique flamenco experience.

The price is 130 € including a welcome cocktail, dinner with a special menu prepared by the parador’s chef, Julian Martin, and the Jose Merce concert. After the performance, attendees will share a summer night with Merce and his musicians.

The initiative is born of the alliance between Paradores and the journalist and music promoter Juan Verdu, director of Madrid’s highly popular and influential Suma Flamenca (Flamenco Summit). “Noches Flamencas aims to spread the culture of flamenco worldwide while supporting the new talent and rising stars of the Spanish flamenco scene.

This agreement aims to go one step further in promoting the Spain Brand (Marca España) through flamenco culture, recognized as Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010. According to Ángeles Alarcó, President of Paradores “With the launch of the Noches Flamencas series, Paradores will provide visiting tourist an opportunity to experience a unique and memorable experience; we are confident will lead to better brand positioning Spain and its most international attributes.”

With this initiative, Paradores supports a new form of tourism product that delivers domestic and international visitors a unique experience that combines three of the main tourist attractions in Spain: Flamenco Art, cuisine and the architectural beauty and culture of the unique Paradores.
