The Recording Academy announced this week the Nominations for the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards. The list of contenders for Best World Music Album includes No Place For My Dream by Femi Kuti (Knitting Factory Records) by Femi Kuti, Live: Singing For Peace Around The World by Ladysmith Black Mambazo (Ladysmith Black Mambazo), Savor Flamenco (Knitting Factory Records) by Gipsy Kings, and The Living Room Sessions Part 2 (East Meets West Music) by Ravi Shankar.

The Best Latin Jazz Album category contains several world music acts. Nominees include La Noche Más Larga (Warner Music Spain) by Buika, Song For Maura (Sunnyside Records/Paquito Records ) by Paquito D’Rivera and Trio Corrente, Yo (Concord Jazz) by Roberto Fonseca, Eggūn (Otá Records) by Omar Sosa, and Latin Jazz-Jazz Latin (Patois Records) by Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet
