Madrid’s Famed Galileo Galilei Club to Host its first Spanish Folk Music Festival

Festival_Transitos_Madrid_2The first Festival Folk Transitos Galileo will take place in Madrid during August 8-10, 2013 at Sala Galileo Galilei. The festival features some of the finest musicians in the Spanish contemporary folk and world music scene.

The festival will feature timple (a small Spanish guitar, one of the ancestors of the ukulele) virtuoso Benito Cabrera from the Canary Island; trailblazing singer and multi-instrumentalist Eliseo Parra with his septet, playing a contemporary vision of folk music from various parts of Spain; legendary folk group La Musgaña; chalaparta innovators Oreka TX from the Basque Country; and Galician folk/Celtic music groups Pentalfa and Luar Na Lubre.

August 8 – Benito Cabrera and Eliseo Parra Septeto
August 9 – La Musgaña, Oreka TX (Basque Country), and Pentalfa (Galicia)
August 10 – Luar Na Lubre (Galicia)

Additional Festivales Folk Tránsitos will take place in Cáceres (September 6-7)
and Santiago de Compostela (October 10-12).
