Niladri Kumar – Priority
Niladri Kumar

Priority (SaReGaMa, 2008)

This is a fine fusion album by sitarist Niladri Kumar, though he has better releases. Niladri is the son of sitar maestro Pandit Kartick Kumar. The 11 tracks span about 50 minutes of fusion experience. Featured musicians include Satyajit Talwalkar on tabla, Harish Solanki on guitars, and K. Srinivasan on flute.

We recommend the title track on this album, as well as its edited version towards the end of the album. The piece Zilebration is also worth a mention. However, we seriously recommend his other album, Sitar Gaze, which really pushes the frontiers of Indian fusion music.
