Fred Jorge e os Mairorais (Afro Baile Records, 2012)
Brazilian singer-songwriter has assembled a large cast of musicians to celebrate African-rooted music. His album Fred Jorge e os Mairorais mixes funk, samba, afrobeat and other musical forms.
Fred Jorge e os Mairorais is a five member band from Campinas in Sao Paulo that sometimes gets expanded to a much larger ensemble. They celebrate Brazilian black from the 1970s, an era where soul, funk, afrobeat, samba and jazz produced fabulous combinations.
The debut album by Fred Jorge e os Mairorais contains a fine selection of heavy-hitting dance-worthy beats.
