Franca Masu - 10 Anys
Franca Masu

10 Anys (Aramúsica AR0052011, 2011)

The new album by renowned Sardinian vocalist Franca Masu is titled 10 Anys and it celebrates 10 years of touring the world. Some of these world stages include Montreal, Istanbul, Barcelona, Utrecht and the prestigious Festival Internacional de la Porta Ferrada in Sant Feliu de Guíxols (Spain).

On 10 Anys Franca Masu sings in Catalan and her native Sardinian. Catalan is still spoken in by a small minority in the seaside village of Alghero on the island of Sardinia which still preserves the medieval character of the heritage left by the Crown of Aragon. 10 Anys revisits some of her essential songs from her albums in Catalan language El meu viatge (2000), Alquimia (2003) and Aquamare (2006).

Franca Masu has an intense and passionate voice and is considered one of the best folk-rooted singers in Italy. Although she comes from a Mediterranean background, her musical influences include Portuguese fado and Argentine tango, two genres that have had a deep influence in her music.

Franca Masu is one of the revelations in the current Catalan language music scene and 10 Anys reveals her talent with evocative Mediterranean songs sculpted with the essence of tango and fado.
