Survival & Other Stories (Gonzo Media Group, 2011)

Jon Anderson, the legendary vocalist for progressive rock band Yes, was ill for a few years and, thankfully, he’s doing much better. Anderson is celebrating his comeback with a new inspirational album titled Survival & Other Stories.

The new songs celebrate love, life, understanding, healing and survival. The musicians featured on Survival & Other Storiess came from unexpected sources. “About four years ago I just put in an ad on my website: ‘Musicians Wanted’… This is the result, ” says Anderson. “Writing the songs for ‘Survival & Other Stories’ was uplifting for me on many levels, I was working with musicians from around the world Via the Internet, it’s a new world, music is a healing energy, I had a tough 2008, through illness, and the Music I’ve been writing since is a celebration of life on many levels.”

Jon Anderson has one of the most recognizable voices in rock music. With his tenor vocals he recorded some of the finest progressive rock albums with his band Yes and his essential solo album Olias of Sunhillow. He has also worked with Greek keyboardist and composer Vangelis as Jon and Vangelis, and has also collaborated with renowned Japanese musician Kitaro.

Jon recently completed a successful east coast tour of the United States, “An Acoustic Evening With Jon Anderson”, which featured an exciting mixture of material from Jon Anderson’s prolific solo career, collaborations with Vangelis and classic Yes songs, along with new compositions from his new CD ‘Survival & Other Stories’.

Survival & Other Stories‘ is the first of three albums to be released by Jon Anderson in the next two years. This volume focuses on ballads so don’t expect Yes-style complex instrumental sections. Instead, it is an inspiring album that celebrates life and spirituality.
