Rosanne Cash and Mark O’Connor will be performing at Duke University (Durham, North Carolina) on Thursday, April 15 of 2010 at 8:00 pm at Page Auditorium. Rosanne Cash’s father, Johnny Cash, picked cotton and listened to gospel in Dyess, Arkansas before becoming the Man in Black. He’s now the subject of a powerful collaboration, as the Grammy-winning Rosanne joins kingpin fiddler Mark O’Connor, in an evening of music inspired by Johnny Cash.
Performing with Mr. O’Connor will be Joey “Arash” Amini on cello and Melissa Marse on piano. The day before the concert, Mark O’Connor will present a lecture and demonstration; Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 5 pm at Nelson Music Room. Mark O’Connor will discuss and demonstrate his American style of string playing, his improvisational abilities and the process of composition. The event is free and open to the public.
