Encanto (Concord Records, 2008)
Brazilian musician Sergio Mendes is back with yet another masterpiece. The veteran musician has invited a collection of musical stars from various countries to participate in his latest recording, Encanto. Mendes returns with his cool electric piano grooves, seductive vocals and addictive Brazilian percussion. On Encanto you will find renovated bossa nova and traditional samba combined with the latest R&B, hip hop and world grooves.
The most seductive pieces are the ones that show deeper Brazilian influences, such as "Odo-ya" fetauring the multi-talented Carlinhos Brown; "Morning in Rio"; "Catavento," which includes Gracinha Leporace; and "Acade," with the increasingly popular Vanessa da Mata.
Sergio Mendes’ previous CD was titled Timeless and that is what his music is.
