Sevilla’s daily newspaper Diario de Sevilla reported that the World Music Expo (WOMEX), will not be held in Sevilla after 2008. WOMEX organizers have offers from 15 different cities and negotiations have already started to choose the location for the 2009 conference. This move follows the pattern of moving the conference to various different cities throughout Europe. Before Sevilla, WOMEX was held in Berlin, Rotterdam, Stockholm and other locations.
WOMEX is the largest annual gathering of world music professionals. It includes numerous showcases by renowned international acts, conferences and a trade show.
According to Diario de Sevilla, WOMEX doesn’t rule out returning to Sevilla in the future.
