Gilberto Gil – singer, songwriter, icon, statesman – returns to Miami with his full band on July 5th, 2008.  The Gilberto Gil Broadband tour features Arthur Maia on bass, Alex Fonseca on drums, Bem Gil on guitars, Claudio Andrade on keyboards, Gustavo de Dalva on percussion, and Sergio Chiavazzolli, also on guitars. In the spirit of the tour’s moniker, Broadband, concert audiences will be encouraged to record at will on their digital cameras and cell phones.

The shows, along with footage shot backstage and on the road, will be launched on the net via a variety of platforms ranging from a dedicated blog to the parallel universe of "Second Life". The only major artist of his generation to retain complete control over his intellectual works, Gilberto Gil intends to interact with his audience and provoke interaction.

The concert takes advantage of the state of the art sound and projection systems at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater.

Presented with support from Moleca Cachaca, Miami Dade Cultural Affairs Council and the City of Miami Beach / Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council.
