London, UK – CNN the international news group recently featured ‘Open Every Door,’ the UK song for autism. The CNN presenter, Max Foster, said it was a ‘moving song.’ The song had a successful launch in London when it was released on 2nd April by Media Eye Music to mark the first ever United Nations World Autism Awareness Day.
‘Open Every Door,’ was composed by the the award winning Sri Lanka born singer/songwriter Nimal Mendis who lives in the UK. The cover version has been recorded by the South Asian superstar Gresha Schuilling who has also released another Nimal Mendis cinema hit, ‘Ganga Addara.’The song was released for the new UK autism charity, the UK Autism Foundation who are planning to fundraise to build a state of the art Autism Centre in London, an autism school and to help families with autism who are below the poverty line – in the UK and in Africa and Asia.
Nimal Mendis also urged the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to help the poor where autism is concerned. There are over 60 million people with autism around the world. Musicians around the globe have been urged to support fundraising activities to help people with autism and Asperger’s Syndrome access public services. Many are kept at home due to reasons of culture and have no access to education or health care.
