Northern Cree Receives Two Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards Nominations

Phoenix (Arizona), USA -The Ninth Annual Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (CAMA) has announced the nominations for this year’s awards and Canyon Records recording artists have been honored with a total of two nominations. This year’s nominations include:

This marks the third time Northern Cree has been a double nominee and winner at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (CAMA). Last year the group received awards for Best Hand Drum Album for Slide & Sway and Best Comtemporary Pow-Wow Album for Nikamo – "Sing!"  In 2004, the group won Best Pow-Wow Album for Rezonate and Best Hand Drum Album for Honoring Singers and Songmakers, Vol. 2.

Northern Cree has been honored with multiple awards including three Grammy nominations. In 2002, Rockin’ the Rez was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Native American Album. In 2003 the group was nominated in the same category for Still Rezin‘ and in 2006 they received their third nomination for Long Winter Nights, Northern Cree & Friends, Vol. 5.
