Nu Med (JDub Music, 2007)
American band Balkan Beat Box is generating a lot of interest in the North America and Europe. The group combines Jamaican dub, hip hop and Balkan music. The Balkan influences include brass music, Klezmer and Gypsy sounds backed by global electronica.
Balkan Beat Box is led by former Gogol Bordello member Ori Kaplan and Tamir Muskat, who live in New York. They are part of an Eastern European immigrant scene that has added a new component to New York’s world music scene.
