Maria Volonte’s New CD Nominated for the Prestigious Carlos Gardel Prize

Argentina – María Volonté’s new CD Yo Soy Maria has just been nominated for the Carlos Gardel Prize, Argentina’s top music award.

Each of María’s last three CDs has scored a Gardel nomination and in 2004 Fuimos both won the Gardel Prize and picked up a Latin Grammy nomination.

On her new album, María fuses the classics of tango — songs such as "El último cafe" and "Nostalgias" — with jazz and bossa nova. She takes tango to unexpected places by expanding the music’s stylistic frontiers and honing a deeply personal approach. The nomination comes as María embarks on a two-month run in Buenos Aires in the hit show "Enamorándote" together with Chico Novarro.

Buy Yo Soy Maria and her previous albums, Fuimos and Tangos.
