Bob Schoenfeld, Founder of Reggae Label Nighthawk Records, Dies at 57

Robert Schoenfeld of Nighthawk Records passed away in his sleep at his home in St. Louis, Missouri on Monday, October 23, at the age of 57.

Nighthawk was one of the few American reggae labels in the 1980s, releasing fine albums by the Gladiators, the Itals, Justin Hinds & the Dominoes and Junior Byles.

Bob was a also an avid blues fan and collector, and his extensive collection and knowledge of reggae singles led to his co-authoring Roots Knotty Roots, the first comprehensive directory/index of Jamaican singles from 1955-1985, a
