WOMEX Will Be Held in Sevilla, Spain, 2006 and 2007

Madrid, Spain – Reports from Madrid indicate that

Seville
will host once more the WOMEX conference in 2006 and 2007. The 2006 conference is scheduled for October 26-27.

The Culture councilman of the Seville City Council, Juan Carlos Marset,
announced that an agreement had been reached between WOMEX, Feria de Sevilla (Fibes)
and the city’s Cultural Department. The agreement also includes the hosting of
WOMEX in 2007 and a “preferential option” for 2008. The city of Seville will be contributing 80.000 euros to the WOMEX budget. WOMEX
is the largest international gathering for world music professionals. It is a
great networking point exclusively dedicated to world, roots, folk, ethnic,
traditional and local music of all kinds.
