WOMADness Returns to Singapore

WOMAD-logoSingapore – The world of WOMAD returns to Singapore as the passion and color of musicians
from around the globe explodes in the historical Fort Canning Park for a 3-day weekend from August 26 – 28.

Winner of the “Best Event Experience” of the Tourism Awards last year, WOMAD is a household name for music lovers – a festival that has grown roots as it enters its 8th year in the beautiful island city-state that is Singapore. True to its commitment to diversity, WOMAD Singapore 2005 will continue to tap into the incredible range of a global music experiences; from centuries old traditions to the pulse of contemporary music. There will be 6 to 8 performances each night that take place multiple stages. These are complemented by the ever-popular workshops and master classes conducted by WOMAD artists, designed to stimulate and entertain both adults and kids. Further engaging the senses, WOMAD’s Global Village offers up a delectable range of food, craft and holistic treatments that are as rich and diverse as the music on offer.

And if all of this isn’t enough, WOMAD Club presents another pulsating, World Music DJ set.

Founded by rock legend Peter Gabriel, the WOMAD festival has been entertaining audiences in over 20 different countries, presenting an estimated 2,000 international artists in over 140 events for 22 years.

Time: Gates Open at 5.30 daily. “Live” performances on Friday begin
at 7pm, Saturday and Sunday, 6pm.
