Turkish Classical Music Duo Ahenk Duo Plans September West Coast Tour

San Francisco (California), USA – Ahenk, agroup formed by Murat
Aydemir and Derya Türkan will be touring the West Coast of the United States in
September of 2005.

Ahenk, which means harmony in Turkish, represents the musical union of Murat
Aydemir on tanbur (long-necked lute) and Derya Türkan on classical kemençe
(3-stringed Turkish fiddle). The Ahenk Duo performs well-known works of Turkish
classical music by such masters as Tanburi Cemil Bey, Udi Serif Muhittin Targan,
and Tanburi Necip Gülses.
Murat Aydemir
is best known for his work with

Incesaz
,
one of the popular combos performing new interpretations of Turkish popular and
classical music. He has performed with the prestigious Ministry of Culture’s
Government Ensemble and Classical Music Chorus in Istanbul.


Derya Turkan
is a
master kemençe (kemenche) player whose musical life is dedicated to Tanburi
Cemil Bey. He has performed around the world alongside such masters as Alâeddin
Yavasça, Bekir Sidki Sezgin, and Erol Deran.
