Strictly Mundial 2005

strictly_mundialMaryland, USA – Strictly Mundial 2005 will be held February
24-27 in Montréal, Québec (Canada). Folk Alliance will host the 5th edition of
Strictly Mundial together with the 17th Annual International Folk Alliance
Conference.  North America’s most European city will feature the
marketplace exhibit hall, the theater showcases, and the city square
workshops and forums will bring together artists, festivals and others from
around the world.

Traditional and contemporary roots music from North America will be presented
in harmony and in contrast with music from all around the globe, giving a
glimpse of common threads and diverse patterns. For the best conference rate,
register by the October 1, 2004 early-bird deadline. It is estimated that nearly
2000 music folk and world music business professionals will attend the

The Marketplace will be the central meeting point for business and networking
at the conference. There will be booths (also known as stands or stalls) and

Special Events

The opening party in the evening of Wednesday February 23rd will feature the
music of France, Louisiana, Acadia and Quebec!
The banquet luncheon on Thursday, 24 February, where Folk Alliance presents the
Annual Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Strictly Native – a special program sponsored by Amok Artist Agency, and funded
by the Canada Council for the Arts – featuring a visit to Odanak Reservation in
Québec on Thursday February 24th and a showcase of Native music, art and culture
on Friday evening.
